Necessary Steps
There are several steps necessary to un-winterize our trailer and prepare it for a long season of fun:
- Turn on the battery cutoff switch and main trailer switch
- Partially fill the fresh water tank with water
- Add a cup of bleach to a gallon of water and pour it into the fresh water tank
- Finish filling the fresh water tank
- Turn the water pump valve to draw water from the fresh water tank
- Turn on each sink and shower faucet until the antifreeze is evacuated from the pipes and you can smell bleach
- Turn the valve to include the water heater in the circuit
- Open water heater release valve
- Water heater will fill
- Close the water heater release valve when water comes out of it
- Check the water heater plug for leaks
- Leave the bleached water in the system for 4 to 12 hours
- Drain the fresh water tank
- Drain the water heater
- Refill fresh water tank and run all faucets until the bleach smell is gone
- Check stair bolts
