On July 25, 2024, we traveled to Island Park, Idaho, and camped at the Riverside Campground. A dear friend of ours, who owns a cabin in Island Park, helped us secure a spot at the campground just before our arrival. Thanks to their quick action, we had a site waiting for us when we arrived later that afternoon.
During our stay, I managed to balance remote work using Starlink with some well-earned days off. The flexibility allowed me to enjoy the serene environment while still staying connected when needed. The setup worked perfectly, letting us relax without feeling entirely cut off.
One of the highlights of our trip was a bike ride to West Yellowstone. Four of us biked from there up to the continental divide and back, taking in the breathtaking scenery along the way. The route was so beautiful that the two of us returned a few days later to ride the trail again. There’s something about the combination of fresh mountain air and stunning landscapes that makes the ride unforgettable.
Our time with friends also included a delightful dinner and play in West Yellowstone. It was such a fun evening, filled with laughter and great company. Sharing these moments with close friends added so much to the trip.
On August 1, 2024, Linda and I took our kayaks to Yellowstone National Park to paddle around Yellowstone Lake. Floating on the pristine waters, we were treated to unique views of hot pools and geysers from the lake. It was fascinating to see these geothermal features from a different perspective.
While paddling, we spotted a majestic bald eagle, its grace and beauty leaving us in awe. After a long but rewarding paddle, we enjoyed a picnic lunch on the lakeside, soaking in the peaceful surroundings before heading back to our vehicle. The day was an incredible mix of adventure and tranquility.
We also tried our hand at fishing on the south side of Henry’s Lake. Despite our enthusiasm, the fish seemed uninterested, and we didn’t get a single bite. While the fishing was a bust, the time spent by the water, enjoying the natural beauty of the area, was still worthwhile.
The trip to Island Park was filled with memorable experiences, from outdoor adventures to quiet moments by the lake. We left feeling rejuvenated and grateful for the time spent with friends and in nature.
