On Wednesday, November 5, we set out on the eastward-bound adventure we mentioned in our earlier post. we arrived at the Glenwood Canyon Resort and settled into site 309. It was already dark when we pulled in, but we quickly got situated, grabbed a bite to eat, and wound down the evening with an episode of Stranger Things—homework, so we could report back to one of our grandsons.
The next day, we decided to stay another night so we could enjoy Glenwood Springs. We spent the afternoon swimming at the famous Glenwood Hot Springs Pool and later enjoyed a delicious dinner at Juicy Lucy’s Steakhouse. With an early departure planned for the next morning—7:00 a.m.—we turned in early, hoping to reach Cedar Bluff State Park in Kansas before nightfall.

We woke to a little frost and the crisp chill of morning air. After packing up, we continued east on I-70, passing several ski resorts along the way. Winter is quickly approaching, but with little natural snow so far, the resorts were busy making their own.
