After church on Sunday, November 9, 2025, we pointed the truck toward Cozy Corners RV Park in Clinton, Missouri. Clinton may not sound like a world-class adventure hub, but for cyclists it’s practically sacred ground—it’s the western terminus of the Katy Trail, a 240-mile ribbon of bike path built over the old MKT rail line. Since the trail runs primarily east and west, we chose to begin on the western end so we can let those friendly westerly winds give us a little nudge. Our biking tales will come in the next post.
Sunday delivered a sharp bite of cold, the kind that makes you question every life choice that led you outdoors. Monday promised more of the same, but Tuesday was the start of a beautiful, nearly week-long warmup with no rain in sight. That perfect weather window is exactly why we hustled ourselves (and our trailer) to Clinton when we did. The plan: get everything ready on Monday, hit the trail Tuesday morning, and return a week later—dirty, tired, and triumphant. So even though our trailer spent ten nights lounging at Cozy Corners, we were only there for three of them.
Cozy Corners turned out to be exactly what we needed and nothing we didn’t. They had electricity to keep our refrigerator humming while we disappeared, propane to top off our dwindling supply, and sewer and water hookups so we could leave with a clean slate. The staff didn’t bat an eye about us abandoning our trailer for a week—they just wished us luck. It’s a pretty packed RV park, but for this particular stop, we weren’t shopping for scenery. We just needed a dependable home base, and Cozy Corners delivered.
